Do you have any idea how much it costs to be a trainer, especially a trainer that works for a public institution like a state agency.\u00a0 If I have learned anything through my 30+ years of training it is this:\u00a0 If you want a high quality training, someone has to pay for it.\u00a0 If you work for a non-profit or a government agency, it will most likely be you.<\/p>\n

A few weeks ago I woke up early one morning as I am apt to do when on the road.\u00a0 I started trying to calculate how much I have spent out-of-pocket on my trainings.\u00a0 Bag of candy…$9.79, table settings… $30 per table, books with training activities… don’t even get me started.\u00a0\u00a0 Add in speakers, computers, posters, stickers,\u00a0bells and\u00a0whistles and I realized that over the years if I had simply pocketed the cash I could afford the Mustang that my mid-life crisis is now demanding.<\/p>\n

Over the years I have been putting aside activities, puzzles, pictures, power point timers, and\u00a0ideas useful for training.\u00a0\u00a0I look through them periodically to add activities and pizzaz to my training.\u00a0 The idea was that one day I would write a book.\u00a0\u00a0Guess what, it ain’t today.\u00a0 But I did think that maybe I could facilitate a place on the internet where trainers like us, who have no money but high ideals,\u00a0could share ideas and resources.\u00a0\u00a0The Poor Trainer’s Resource was born, welcome to the site.<\/p>\n

No rules but a couple of thoughts…<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0 I warranty nothing.\u00a0 I will upload content periodically but please make sure you have a good defense against viruses, bugs and trojans.\u00a0 Other than a roman warrior, I am unsure what a trojan is so don’t expect me to defend your computer against one.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0 Use whatever you want from this site without reservation.\u00a0 If you need it, use it.\u00a0 Give credit where it is due and be professional.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0 Don’t just sit and soak;\u00a0share some of your thoughts, experiences and resources.\u00a0 Send them to me at poortrainer@gmail.com and I will see about getting them posted…giving credit where credit is due.<\/p>\n
